BIQUETTE (PRONOUCED BEE-KATE)

Biquette is 5 years old Nubian goat, she is our miracle goat with 3 lives.

First rescued after giving birth to twins on the coldest day of winter ,on a farm were we volunteering we found her in shock after the birth process, still, with her head hanging down. She was very anorexic and dehydrated and had an infection in her utter. She could not raise her young; they got adopted at a sanctuary farm.

We took her under our special care and slowly nursed her back to health.A year later she got infected with a meningial worm from a deer,it started to travel up the spinal column provoking her rear legs to become lame and if nothing is done goes up to the brain. It also affects the nerve endings which caused terrible itching, she was biting herself down to raw bloody spots to relieve the itching.

We took her  to Tufts university hospital where she was diagnosed. The doctor was not too hopeful that she would survived.

Again we fighted and nursed her back to health and she pulled through this terrible ordeal.

Though she still have a left hind leg that stayed a little lame she is living a peaceful life on our sanctuary.

DUSK  DUSK is a 3 year old rabbit. He lived at a farm with a twin brother together in the same cage (they had 25 rabbits, freezing cold in winter in an old drafty barn). One day we found dusk brother dead in the cage beside him.DUSK was in bad shape with his rear end all impacted with feces and an ear that was raw and so badly infected with mites that we thought he was going to loose his ear.We took him to our vet ,and after proper care we brought hiom home to insure him good living conditions. He fully recovered and is now a gorgeous rabbit.he lives in a roomy pen along with a blind rabbit named PELLET.

ROOSTER/chouchou1web.JPG

CHOUCHOU (SHOE-SHOE)

CHOUCHOU is a 6 months  old rooster.he came to the farm where we worked as a hatchling along with 12 other chicks.they were brought from a Boston school were they were hatched from an incubator.they came crowded all together in a little cage.We took care of them right away from the start; transfer them in a bigger pen.CHOUCHOU was the cutest ,however after 2 weeks he began to fail .he was huddled in a little corner not moving and eating.after observing him for a couple of day  with some up and downs ,more downs,we decided to take him home.He was in a cage in the back of our van, I opened the hatch to check on him ,held him up saw what looked like a little string hanging from his rear end.I went to take a tissue and very gently and slowly began to pull a long twisted rope –like made of hay all tangled together; it was 7-8 inches long and fortunately all came out without breaking. It look like he was all impacted and had an intestinal blockage.Right after that he began eating and drinking and he fully recovered. He is now living a joyful life with other rooster and hens in the chicken coop at our sanctuary and is one of the most healthy and active.
